Day 46 - Sept 3 - Coos Bay - A Fine Day On The Pacific Coast

This has been a very good day for many reasons. The biggest news came late tonight, when Kari called to tell us that her good friend Sheena had a baby boy. The news was actually delivered by Sheena's daughter Tyla. (see Day 14) We still don't know the baby's name yet but he was a big 8 lbs 8 oz. Sheena lived with Kari for a time in St. Thomas and now lives in apartment above Kari in Vancouver. All the best to Sheena and Thomas.

The day started off with a trip to the Ford dealership to get the shocks on the van repaired. Both rear shocks needed to be replaced. The pleasant surprise was the price. It has been our experience that a trip to the garage usually cost $1,000. When the manager told me that the price was $ 259 because both shocks needed to be replaced, I assumed that he meant that this was the unit cost and both front and rear shocks needed to be replaced. So I believed that with labour the cost would exceed $1,000. But when I got the bill it came out to only $259 in total. Wow what a relief.

The garage also found a nail in the rear left tire. I took it to a tire shop where it was repaired for FREE! This has never happened to me before.

Liam should note that Bubba got his required 60 minute walk in today as walked from the dealership to the hotel and then back to dealership.

After picking up the van we went south to Bandon, which is the cranberry centre for Oregon. This is a small village with a 4 block area where they have gift shops, artist studios and a couple of sweets shops. I picked up a bottle of Cranberry/Orange wine. It should taste great at Thanksgiving. Marg picked up some glass ornaments .

We went back to Sunset beach to watch the sunset again tonight. This time we took the camera and it did not let us down and the view was spectacular again.

Tomorrow we heading to Eureka which is Northern California and the heading east to Napa valley for the weekend.
