Day 48 - Sept 5 - Napa - The weather is fine and so is the wine

Today we moved to one of our primary vacations locations, the wine valleys of Napa and Sonoma. Once we moved off the coast and over the Mayacamas mountain range, the temperature rose from 60F to 100F. The valley is full of vineyards as far as the eyes can see.

Note to Rocky and Joan - it still not too late to catch a red-eye to San Fransisco.

On our way to our hotel we stopped at 3 wineries. First was Beaulieu Vineyard. This winery has moved from a very classy estate to a sterile factory, but the wine is still very good. Next we stopped at Marg's favorite American winery, Robert Mondavi. Our last stop was at Mario Andretti's vineyard which is in a quaint villa fashioned after an Italian villa.

There was a small earthquake in San Fransisco tonight. It was measured at 4.0 on the Ricter scale. San Fransisco is about 90 miles west of here but the news said it was felt here in Napa. We didn't feel it though.
