Day 24 - August 12 - San Diego - Its A Small World

Today was another lazy day. We spent the day with the grandchildren. In the afternoon we went to get some groceries at "Trader Joe's". While talking to the cashier we identified ourselves as being from Ontario. The cashier next to us said she was from Belleville. When we said that our good friends the Rockburne's lived there and that Ken was the head of RT at the Belleville General, she told us that her brother was Dr. Tony Truman, who practiced at that hospital. When I called Rocky and Joan later it turned out that Rocky did know the doctor.

The early risers, Ken, Marg, Jase, and Mckenna got to see dolphins swimming by at 9AM. At first Ken thought it was a shark out close to a surfer, but turned out to be dolphins.

Ken, Mel and Cooper went to La Jolla to see the surfer dudes. They said it was a very ritzy area and you could tell that many of the kids there were professional beach bums with rich parents.

Kari, Jonah and Liam went for a bike ride along the Ocean Walkway.

Tonight we ate at a restaurant called Gringos. It had some very good Mexican food and was not too spicy. Later in the week some of us are going to Tijuana in Mexico.

The final word of the day comes from Liam. When asked what he though of his ride on the roller coaster that is in the amusement park at the end of the road - "Dreadful"

As promised here are some more pictures from our visit to the zoo.

Here are some drawings done by Liam from his day at the zoo.
