Day 26 - August 14 - Shopping in Tijuana

Today we left the USA for Mexico and a day of shopping in Tijuana. Marg, Mel and Kari spent several hours on the main shopping concourse looking for souvenirs. All the shops are built around the bater system and the deals were cheap but you are harassed by the shop owners at each stall to view their one of kind deals. Unfortunately all the shops carried the same type of goods, which consisted mostly of leather goods, silver, and of course tee shirts. The ladies all agreed that it was good fun and a day well spent.

We got a toy guitar for Jase and he appears to happy playing and singing. McKenna got a pretty white and floral dress. Liam and Cooper got tee shirts. Marg bought me the "Ugliest Tee Shirt" in Tijuana. Marg got a 14Ct gold and sterling silver bracelet for $20. The shop owner had originally asked $45.

We had lunch at a restaurant call Tilly. It had good Mexican food and a Mariachi band for entertainment.

The town was pretty much as expected. Hot and dusty with a mix of interesting architecture. The most imposing building was a Jai Lai Palace.

Coming back into the States the line up at customs was as long as our wait at the Peace Arch, but because we were on a charter bus we got through very quickly.
