Day 49 - Sept 6 - Napa - More Wine Tastings

We stopped for lunch and Liam would be very proud of Bubba because he had a healthy lunch. We both had a delicious salad with lots of fruit, lettuce, chicken, Gorgonzola cheese, and pecans.

Then we spent the afternoon touring various vineyards in the Napa valley. Our first stop was at Sutter Home where we had a very good Zinfandel and a Merlot. The Zinfandel was not sweet that you find in the LCBO but was semi-dry.

Our next stop was at Duckhorn, where we also purchased a Merlot. The main difference was the price. The Duckhorn wines are considered reserve vintages and they cost quiet a bit.

Because we got a late start our next two stops had closed for the day, but we did find one final vineyard that was open. The name of this winery is Chimney Rock and we bought an Elvage vintage which is very smooth and delicious. We won't tell you what we spent because it really is obscene.

There is a big difference between Niagara and Napa. In Niagara some of the winery tasting cost about $5 which they give you back when you get buy a bottle, but here in Napa it costs $15 - $25 and there is no refund.

We've talked to UPS to find out how to ship the wine back home and it appears that will also be very expensive, but it is better than carrying it around with us for the next few weeks.

Tomorrow we are going to continue our wine tasting.

Indeed, Liam is impressed. Way to go Bubba! A healthy lunch is the only way to go.
